Hi there,

Eastern is behind us and I am preparing my TOEFL test which is making me a bit crazy although I consider my English skills to be really good. So actually there is no reason for being that nervous. But anyways I am. Therefore, my next collage was a great distraction. The topic today is D.I.Y. something I have fallen in love with head over toes.

D.I.Y. = Do it yourself.

I have begun a few D.I.Y. projects myself and am always trying to collect the ideas of young talented people in the internet who think of great D.I.Y. projects. A few years ago I have decided not to buy birthday presents and such anymore but to make them myself. Honestly, it does not work all the time. But 3 out of 5 presents are self-made, which is a lot of fun. Today I want to present my Top 3 D.I.Y. ideas from the net which I have not tried myself but which are more than adorable in my opinion. Please try them if you are bored, need a present or are missing some creativity these days. I will shortly post some pictures of things I have made myself but the problem being they are not with me but at their owners since I have given away a few of them. But I'll try... promise.
Oh one more thing: Check out the pages where I got the ideas from because there are more D.I.Y. ideas. If you don't like the ones I chose you can def find something inspiring there.

Chain Bracelet- by Honestly...WTF: Costs almost nothing but is such an eye-catcher I guarantee!

Map Letters- by Smitten&Hazel:  Looks nice in a room, is so flexible because you can use any letter you  want and therefore is a great present.

Market Bag- designspongeonline: Everyone has one of those boring bags with a logo from a pharmacy or supermarket on them: change it and it will look wonderful.

Salut

Hello my imaginary readers,

it truly is summer. At least in my heart it is. The sun is shining and it is really not hard to forget that it is only springtime and not summer. Anyways I am introducing a few pretty things that are for my taste perfectly fitting to this wonderful weather with a new collage. I made this collage today at work in my break while sitting in the 4th floor of the museum and looking at the sun from inside.

  1. Ginger Ale and Strawberries: My favorite summer drink (preferably with a hint of rosé wine)
  2. Blue cyanide necklace by freepeople: Much too expensive but so adorable
  3. Disposable camera: Because not-perfect-summer-pictures are perfection
  4. Crystal Crater Ring by freepeople: Because green and blue are my summer colors
  5. Dress by freepeople: So expensive but light-as-a-feather-tanned-skin-dress

By the way: All the graphics such as the tree, butterfly and birdsnest are from TheGraphicsFairy, a wonderful blog which provides me with fun pictures. Please have a look even if you do not really get the point. It is a great way of finding extraordinary pictures for presentations, collages, greetingcards and such.

Hi there,
What a lot of people dont know is that the internet provides you with almost everything you need to look all artistic and such. I used to think that the people who create magazine layouts and fashion displays are true artists. Well, this thought has not faded I still am more but intimidated by them-but one thing I have learned on top: Creativity is also knowing where your sources are. So if you have pretty fonts and if you have great pictures and remember how to make a collage from when you were younger you can create great things. Often when I make something for a project my friends take a look at it. And they are always really fascinated about one thing. My eyes are all dried out by looking at Indesign and Photoshop and I have been cutting png’s for months- layering like crazy- coloring, clipping and so on and what do my friends point at with shiny eyes? The font (Deutsch: Schrifttyp). ‘This is really nice.’
I love them for that. It is like looking at a Picasso and then being amazed by his signature. Please do not criticize me for comparing myself to Picasso. That was not the intention.
Weeeell, enough jip-jap: Today I want to show those who do not know that there are hundreds of great fonts for free available online and present my at the moment top 8.

These are all free- you just have to download the files- and then install them and they will be available at Word, Indesign, Photoshop but also PowerPoint, etc. It is really easy and fun. Back to the whole 'KNOW YOUR SOURCES'- talk. I found the flower from the collage above at TheGraphicsFairy a page with lovely pictures to use. And then I just cut it and put it in my font-collage and it looks a lot nicer. Love the internet mostly for that. Getting things I can use.

So long then and byebye!

Salut!

Goede morgen,
The last days have been crazy busy. I have been stuck between two projects at the museum and helping my boyfriend with a rather difficult statistics exam. Now, it is over and I can finally think straight. Today I want to write about something I have been wanting to do a while because I think it is so pratical. Here in Holland (where I live) all the kids are wearing string backpacks and I think they are pretty ugly. Not the shape more the material and everything. Then I thought: why not change the material. It can't be that hard making one of those thingy's for myself. Before you get all impressed: I didn't! But I am really planning to. Mama Urchin gives instructions on her blog how to make one for kids. And the one's she made are adorable. These ones are from SummerWater but are sold out all the time. I guess they give a good idea about how with the right fabrics you can make a wonderful summer bag. I will try making of them this weekend and come back to you.

What inspires me...

Mahlzeit !

Since I have been crazy busy I have neglected the one thing I really wanted to do. My last post (of only two in total) is a week old. I have deserved not more than despair. Now while sitting here taking a break from another busy day at the museum I wanted to write again.

About ½ year ago I found something or better someone in the internet who change my point of view on a few things. Before I was not really interested in all the new stuff you could find online such as blogging. Cathrina, from PuglyPixel.

In my point of view, Cathrina has created a blog which is entertaining but also for me one of my most inspiring sources in the last couple of months. Her taste and expertisment of arranging things, using font and color has amazed me and influenced me in a lot of ways.

Upon that she provides readers with freebies from time to time that are lovely and has created quite a few tutorials which let one be a real Cathrina wannabe. Please go look at her site and stop reading my boring text because it is so worth it.
